Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s recent visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emphasized the strengthening of economic and strategic ties between the two nations. During his visit on November 1–2, Misri engaged in a series of discussions aimed at expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership that India and the UAE share.
In Abu Dhabi, Misri met with UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy. Their talks focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, identifying new avenues for collaboration, and exchanging perspectives on both regional and global developments. This meeting underscored the commitment of both countries to deepen their bilateral relations.
Beyond governmental cooperation, cultural exchange was also a key topic. Misri met with Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism, to explore cultural collaboration. They discussed the proposed House of India museum, which seeks to highlight Indian art, history, and heritage, thereby promoting tourism and cultural understanding.
Economic engagement was a significant aspect of Misri’s visit. He held discussions with Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Finance and group CEO of L’Imad Holding Company. Their conversations revolved around increasing investment flows, expanding economic interactions, and fostering long-term commercial partnerships.
The visit underscored the robust ties between India and the UAE, with a shared focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, culture, and strategic affairs. Both nations are committed to identifying new areas for collaboration, reflecting a mutual interest in enhancing their strategic partnership.
