Oman and India have cemented their strategic partnership with a commitment to enhance collaboration across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, logistics, and emerging technologies. This commitment was underscored during a meeting in Muscat on Friday, where Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, engaged in comprehensive discussions.
The ministers took the opportunity to review the enduring relations between their nations, focusing on ways to bolster bilateral cooperation. A key aspect of their dialogue was the promotion of business collaborations, fostering high-quality investments, and the creation of economic opportunities that serve the interests of both countries. This initiative is seen as a significant step toward strengthening their economic ties.
Regional and international issues were also on the agenda, particularly the security of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The ministers discussed the ramifications of regional tensions on international trade, energy supplies, and global supply chains, highlighting the strategic importance of this maritime corridor.
Emphasizing the need for sustained diplomatic engagement, Oman and India agreed on the importance of coordination and consultation to support regional stability. They stressed the need to encourage dialogue among all parties, aiming to reduce tensions in line with international law. Ensuring the security of vital international shipping routes remains a shared priority for both nations.
