India has emphasized the necessity of maintaining peace and stability along its border with China to foster continued positive relations between the two nations. This declaration came as National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. The meeting signified the 25th round of discussions between the special representatives of both countries, aimed at resolving their longstanding boundary dispute. Central to their talks were issues surrounding boundary delimitation, enhanced border management, and expanded cooperation across their shared frontier.
During the discussions, India and China reviewed the progress made in bilateral relations, focusing on measures to sustain stability along the Line of Actual Control. Both countries reiterated their commitment to achieving a political resolution to the boundary issue, keeping in mind their long-term interests. This meeting comes on the heels of progress made following a 2024 understanding between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which sought to ease tensions in the Ladakh region. Ajit Doval noted that the bilateral relationship has been gradually normalizing, attributing this positive trend to the peaceful conditions maintained along the border.
