The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra, amid an investigation into alleged embezzlement of funds meant for the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that the resignations were processed following the protocols outlined in the trust’s constitution. During the announcement, he recognized the significant role Champat Rai has played in the trust since its establishment.
This development comes in the wake of accusations concerning irregularities in the handling of temple donations. Pankaj Jaiswal, a senior member of the trust, expressed his dismay at the situation, describing it as both painful and disgraceful. He emphasized that any misappropriation of contributions made by devotees is intolerable.
In response to the resignations, the trust has appointed Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary. Govind Giri will continue in his role as treasurer. The trust is set to reconvene on July 22, coinciding with the expected delivery of the final report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Giri has assured that the trust will not shield any individuals found guilty, asserting that all accused parties must face legal consequences irrespective of their stature within the organization.
So far, eight individuals have been apprehended in connection to the alleged theft of donations, with the investigation still underway. The ongoing probe highlights the trust’s commitment to transparency and accountability in managing the funds entrusted by devotees for the construction of the revered temple.
