Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a significant campaign titled ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan,’ aiming to inspire the youth of India to spearhead a national movement against drug abuse. This extensive campaign is structured to run for 100 weeks, focusing on engaging the public through a variety of activities designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction. These activities include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, and community outreach, all scheduled to occur every Sunday.
In a virtual address to the campaign participants, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the detrimental impact of drug trafficking, which he said is employed by hostile forces to undermine India’s interests and target its young population. He stressed the importance of shielding young people from the perils of addiction, viewing it as a crucial step in the journey toward building a Viksit Bharat, or developed India.
Modi expressed his appreciation for the involvement of over one crore young individuals from diverse backgrounds in this initiative. He commended their commitment to the cause, noting that many young people have taken a pledge to abstain from drugs and are actively working to raise awareness within their communities.
The launch of this campaign underscores the Indian government’s dedication to addressing the issue of drug abuse, which poses a significant threat to the nation’s youth and overall development. By mobilizing the energy and enthusiasm of young people across the country, the government hopes to create a robust movement that not only educates but also empowers communities to combat drug-related challenges effectively.
As the campaign unfolds over the coming weeks, it is expected to foster a sense of collective responsibility and proactive engagement among the youth, driving a nationwide effort to eliminate the scourge of drug addiction and contribute to the vision of a developed and prosperous India.
