Delhi Launches ₹13,800 Crore Initiative for Infrastructure and Welfare Projects

The Delhi government is set to initiate a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure campaign named Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, commencing on September 17. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this month-long initiative aims to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service by unveiling and laying the foundation for projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore throughout the national capital.

As part of the campaign, a wide array of activities will be conducted across all 70 assembly constituencies, including blood donation camps, health check-ups for senior citizens, sanitation efforts, and Yamuna-cleaning drives. A significant focus of the program is a mega blood donation camp slated for September 17, with the ambitious goal of collecting 2,500 units. The government also plans to emphasize organ donation and organize health camps dedicated to senior citizens.

A substantial portion of the campaign, around ₹8,000 crore, is earmarked for projects associated with the Yamuna. The initiative will recognize the contributions of over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers during this period. Additionally, the campaign will engage students and youth from approximately 5,000 schools in activities such as painting and speech competitions, along with an innovation challenge designed to inspire ideas for a developed India.

The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan encompasses a variety of projects, including ₹8,000 crore for Delhi Jal Board developments, ₹2,800 crore for Public Works Department projects, ₹1,500 crore for power-sector initiatives, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control endeavors, and ₹77 crore dedicated to tourism projects. These efforts represent a significant investment in the future infrastructure and welfare of Delhi’s citizens.
