Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a message of “sorrow and strength” to India following the deadly blast near the Red Fort. His statement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the eight lives lost.
“Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” Netanyahu pledged, after extending “deepest condolences” from himself and his wife, Sara, to the victims’ families.
The Israeli leader’s message was one of defiance, stating that the “unyielding spirit” of India and Israel cannot be broken. “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls,” he declared.
Netanyahu praised the “ancient civilisations” bond, vowing that their “light” would “outshine the darkness of our enemies.”
The attack, which involved a Hyundai i20 car, is now the subject of a high-level terror probe. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case and is investigating a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad module.
